We provide an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor service in the Greater Manchester area

Our IDVA Service is available to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans individuals that live in the Greater Manchester area.

Independent Domestic Violence Advisors are specialist support workers that offer short term intensive support following an incident of domestic abuse. They work with you from crisis point and their role is to help reduce the risk of harm towards you, by working with you to create a safety plan and if necessary, supporting you through the court process.

Deciding to prosecute is a brave decision and an IDVA can be a very valuable source of support. We have close links with a legal assistance team who have a unique understanding of your situation and can provide advice and guidance around the legal system.

Our specifically LGBT IDVA can work with you if you live in the following Greater Manchester areas:

Manchester, Salford, Rochdale, Bolton, Stockport, Trafford, Wigan, Oldham, Bury or Tameside.

It is possible for Greater Manchester LGBT residents to refer yourself to this service if you think you would benefit from this support. Contact our IDVA directly to see if she can help you by emailing her here or sending a message on Twitter to @RainbowIDVA

Broken Rainbow are running a new drop in service for any LGBT people in Greater Manchester who are experiencing violence or abuse in their intimate relationships.

The Zion Centre, 339 Stretford Road, Hulme, Manchester, M15 4ZY

Starting Tuesday 29th March 5pm-7pm, and every Tuesday after that, our IDVA  will be there for clients either wanting advice or a referral into the LGBT IDVA service. She can help you find a way to cope with what's happening for you, talk about how you can leave, and offer advice and information.

If you are unable to attend these sessions, you can also contact our IDVA by email for support - click here
